Perhaps it is because they are cradled by the river's gentle embrace that they wear such perpetual, guileless smiles.\nThey ingest indigestible elements, gravel, and mineral ores, sequestering them within their bodies to be forged into sparkling, shining pearls — a glittering defense they expel to dazzle and distract any predator.
